Local accommodations, restaurants & places of interest

Click the links on the left side of the screen for information on some local hotels, restaurants and attractions that I personally recommend. I have stayed at these hotels, eaten at the restaurants, and seen the sights. We recommend these businesses frequently and have always had positive feedback from our clients. I am confident that you will enjoy them.

When you schedule a deposition with us, we will e-mail or fax you a more extensive list of recommendations. Tucson is a wonderful town, and I hope you will be able to take advantage of it during your stay here.

Things to do

Arizona Sonoran Desert Museum

The Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum is a world-renowned zoo, natural history museum and botanical garden, all in one place!

Nogales Sonora

A quick 75-mile drive via I-19 puts you at border. Park your car on the U.S. side of the border and walk across to experience a different culture. The people are friendly and very welcoming to Americans. Enjoy lunch or dinner. I have been eating there for over 30 years and have never had a bad experience. Best to avoid the water, just to be safe.

Tubac, AZ

On the way to or from Nogales, stop at Tubac, southern Arizona’s artist colony. Most of the shops are owned and operated by the artists, who are eager to explain their art and techniques to you.

Tombstone, AZ

If you grew up watching cowboy shows, you might enjoy a trip to Tombstone, the town too tough to die. You history buffs should put the courthouse museum down as a must-see.

Kartchner Caverns

This is a series of (wet) living caves that were discovered 30 years ago by a couple of spelunkers, but kept secret until plans could be made to preserve and display them. The tours are conducted by highly knowledgeable docents. It is best to make reservations in advance.

Restaurants

Tuscon restauranteur Suzanna Davila's food is favorite of local court reporter & agency owner, Jim Colville    Tuscon restaurant Cafe Poca Cosa is recommended to lawyers visiting southern Arizona
Café Poca Cosa

110 E. Pennington St.
Tucson, AZ 85701
(520) 622-6400

THIS IS A MUST! I would describe the food as gourmet Mexican. This is not your regular enchiladas and tamales. Here you will find Mexican food that you will not find anywhere else. For lunch recently, I had Green Corn Tamale Pie with a mango habanero sauce that was to die for. If you order the Poca Cosa Plata, you get the chef’s choice of a sample of three different entrees. Nothing like it anywhere!!! Close enough to the office for lunch, nice enough for dinner. You won’t be disappointed.

Owner Suzana Davila is a native of Guaymas, Sonora, and a former fashion model and designer. She has been dazzling Tucsonans and Tucson visitors for the last 18 years with her innovative Mexican cooking.

McMahon’s is our favorite in this local chain, but all of their nine restaurants are  worth visiting.
